4. Mandatory Fees

To ensure price transparency for travelers, any mandatory fees or taxes that travelers are required to pay post-booking (ie: any fees payable on arrival at the activity) must be loaded in these designated fields.

  1. Log in to the partner self-service portal

  2. Go to the activity and click on the Actions drop down menu

  3. Select Edit

  4. Click on Options and pricing in the left-hand navigation menu

  5. In the Option, click on the Actions drop down menu

    1. Note: each Active Option will need to have fees set up individually
  6. Select View/Edit

  7. Click on option 4. Mandatory Fees to expand the section

  9. Select Edit

  10. Click on the fee type you are adding (e.g. Admission Fees or Transport/parking)

  11. Enter the Activity Start and End Dates if applicable

  12. Enter the fee Amount inclusive of taxes

  13. Select the Ticket Type

  14. Select the Currency

  15. Note: Fees will be added for all times in the selected offer group

  16. Click on Apply

  17. Click on Save options

If mandatory fees apply to more than one option within an activity, you must repeat these steps for all applicable options

18. Ensure Exclusions content is updated to indicate that fees are payable locally

If any mandatory fees are already built into the existing retail and net rates in LXPC, do I also need to load them in the mandatory fees section?

No — only mandatory fees that travelers are required to pay locally at the time of the activity should be entered in this section. If your existing rates already include any mandatory fees that are collected at the time of booking, no additional action is needed.

What happens once I load any fees into the new mandatory fees section?

The fees will be shown to travelers during the checkout, so they are aware of fees that need to be paid in person on the day of the activity

What happens if fees are not loaded by May 31?

Your activity will be at risk of being removed from the Expedia marketplace.

If travelers are not required to pay the fee, should it be loaded in the mandatory fees section?

No – we only require you to enter mandatory fees and not optional fees

Does Expedia collect payment from travelers for the mandatory fees?

No, any fees added into the mandatory fees section will not be collected by Expedia and should be paid by the traveler on their activity redemption date

What if none of the mandatory fee types in LXPC accurately describe the fee they will need to pay at the activity?

Load the fee into the "Miscellaneous/Other" category

Should I remove the content describing the mandatory fees from the "Exclusions" section in LXPC after loading it in the new fields?

No, it is important to keep this information in the "Exclusions" so travelers understand what the additional fees are for

Why is Expedia requiring these fees to be loaded in the mandatory fees section?

In addition to ensuring compliance with pricing display laws, Its important that travelers understand the full cost of booking activities (including both taxes and fees payable at the time of booking and those payable at the activity) so they can make informed decisions on whether to book your activity
