Lodging Bed Types

Each offer includes a list of available bed types

The Lodging APIs will include a list of which types of bed are available with each offer.

For Partners Booking via an Expedia Website

The bedType object in the Search or Details API response will tell you which bedding options are available with the quoted offer and this value may optionally be displayed to your users. It will also be included in the details presented to the user on the Expedia website when they go to book.

For Partners Booking via Lodging Booking APIs

If you are booking an offer via an Expedia Booking API, you will need to include bed type information from the Lodging Search or Details API response into the Booking API query.

When booking hotels via the Booking API, you must only include bed type options that are returned in the Hotel Details API response. If you try to book a bed type that is not explicitly offered for the room that you are trying to book, the booking will most likely fail.

Full Listing of Possible Bed Types

This page used to contain a complete listing of possible bed types, but this list has been removed. The reason is that Expedia is now supporting multiple third party inventory sources, as well as including many more vacation rental properties. As a result, the current list of available bed types is now more than 28,000 unique types. This value is going to continue to change and grow over time, as the values included here are created by thousands of property owners and managers all over the world.

It used to be possible for partners to work from a set list of lodging bed types, but moving forward it is recommended that partners work from the bed types returned in the API response and don't try to rely on a standardized list of values.
