Integration and testing

Your Expedia launch manager will work with you to establish a testing plan and process, and they’ll let you know when your team can begin testing. Please discuss guidelines with your launch manager to be sure that your testing is as thorough as possible.

As part of our development process, we will test your template site in multiple ways before we think that it’s ready. When we’re satisfied, it’ll be time for you to test. We’ll provide you a link to a staging environment where you will be able to test without affecting your customers.

Information

Important

Please do not enable site integrations during the testing phase. We will have traffic and booking restrictions in place prior to launch, and we don’t want to confuse your users.

Test site requirements

For the testing on our end, we’ll need access to:

  • 2 or more test accounts, one for each tier or loyalty rule
  • If your site will include loyalty burn, each test account should be loaded with 1 million points
  • A person of contact for times when we need points to be replenished or if we run into issues with the test accounts
  • The ability to link the test accounts to an Expedia distribution list so that our teams can validate transaction emails

Browsers tested

When we do our end-to-end testing, we focus primarily on three browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari

Our mobile testing is not focused on specific devices—we check a mobile view that covers most device screen sizes.

Ready for launch

When we’ve finished our testing, your launch manager will provide a site walk-through. We recommend that you test as a dark launch—that is, test on a copy of production traffic that doesn’t return responses to users—to be sure that everything is working as expected.

When you’ve finished testing, please reach out to your Expedia launch manager with feedback and testing outcomes. They’ll work with you on a launch date and time once both teams are agreed that testing is successful.
