During authentication, the API uses credentials configured by Expedia Group for each partner. These credentials are embedded in the Booking Notification request XML messages that Expedia Group delivers to you. API credentials allow you to maintain a centralized login for multiple properties and allow you to add new properties to your portfolio without having to add additional passwords or reset existing passwords.
Note: API credentials and Partner Central login information are not the same. Partner Central logins can be used to access properties connected to Expedia Group with their systems in Partner Central.
When you use the Booking Notification API, Expedia Group opens the connection and pushes data to you, and you validate Expedia Group’s connection with the authentication credentials. In contrast, when using the Availability and Rates API and the Booking Retrieval/Booking Confirmation APIs, you open the connection and must be authenticated by Expedia Group.
